Suren N. Weerasuriya is an associate at Aegis. He brings an aggressive but practical approach to litigation focused on protecting clients while always pushing for the end goal. Suren prides himself on strong written and oral advocacy, and on ensuring his clients' voices are heard. An array of valuable experience leading up to Aegis shaped Suren's diverse legal skill set.
Suren laid the foundation via his first job at a consumer rights firm in Los Angeles where he represented employees and consumers in hundreds of individual and class action cases in state and federal court. At that firm, Suren successfully tried and arbitrated consumer rights cases and settled hundreds of individual and class action claims involving employment discrimination, wage and hour violations, and consumer fraud. He represented consumers who have been victims of debt collection harassment, inaccurate credit reporting identity theft, illegal call records, false advertising, and invasive telemarketing practices.
From there, Suren rounded out his experience by representing business entities in employment, commercial real property, contracts, and trade secret disputes at multiple business law firms.
Suren attended Southwestern University School of Law where he earned his J.D. in 2011. At Southwestern, Suren earned the CALI Excellence for Future Award in Employment Law. He also assisted low-income and indigent clients at the school's Immigration Law Clinic and at LACBA's Immigration Legal Assistance Project.
Before Southwestern, Suren attended Virginia Tech where he was on the Dean's List several semesters and graduated with a B.A. in 2007.
Suren lives in Irvine with his wife Diana, a thriving immigration attorney, their son Freddy, an up and coming high school football player and their dog Rover. Suren spends most of his time with his family and close circle of friends. He enjoys watching and playing football and basketball, cooking, reading, and listening to music.
